According to the National Patient Safety Goals, when carrying out a telephone order the nurse must strictly follow the 'read-back' principle, repeating the entire order to the provider for confirmation so that both parties agree on the medication, dose, frequency, and route. This is a final safety check before execution and helps prevent medication errors.
在美國臨床實務中，對於 Telephone Order 的管控極嚴，部分機構甚至禁止接受電話醫囑，僅允許在緊急情況下使用。一旦接收，必須嚴格遵守 Read-back 並由醫師在指定時間內（通常為 24 小時）完成線上簽署（Electronic Co-signature）。
