Digoxin 具有負性頻率作用（降低心跳），給藥前必須測量心尖脈 (Apical pulse) 整整一分鐘。若心率成人低於 60 次/分、兒童低於 70 次/分或嬰兒低於 90 次/分，應暫緩給藥並通知醫師，以預防藥物中毒引發的嚴重緩慢心律。
Digoxin has a negative chronotropic effect (it slows the heart rate). Before administration, the apical pulse must be measured for a full minute. If the heart rate is below 60 beats/min in adults, below 70 beats/min in children, or below 90 beats/min in infants, the dose should be held and the provider notified, in order to prevent severe bradyarrhythmias caused by drug toxicity.
