Unlicensed assistive personnel (UAP) may only perform structured, low-risk, routine tasks that do not require complex assessment. For a client with a cervical spine injury, maintaining spinal alignment is central to care; UAP may assist with basic actions after the nurse has confirmed safety, but any work involving neurologic assessment or clinical judgment cannot be delegated.
