In disaster triage, a Red Tag indicates a life-threatening condition that is treatable with immediate intervention. A sucking chest wound can rapidly progress to tension pneumothorax, requiring urgent care to prevent death, whereas minor injuries or those with no chance of survival are tagged Green or Black.
