The core goal of hospice care is "comfort care" rather than curing disease. Nursing care focuses on relieving physiological symptoms (such as pain, dryness, and pressure injuries) and maintaining the client's dignity. With respect to fluid intake, the client's comfort and preferences should be respected; forcing fluids may cause fluid overload in the terminal client, leading to edema or respiratory distress.
