Red Man Syndrome is a histamine-release reaction caused by infusing vancomycin too rapidly. Common features include flushing of the face, neck, and upper torso, pruritus, and hypotension. Note: respiratory distress (D) more typically represents anaphylaxis rather than uncomplicated Red Man Syndrome and is therefore not selected. When this reaction occurs, the infusion rate should be slowed immediately and the provider notified for further management.
