LPN（在美國）或護士（在台灣法規中，RN 為護理師，LPN 為護士）職責為執行已制定的護理計畫。LPN 可執行給藥、衛教補強與無菌傷口護理。然而，初始評估（Initial assessment）與護理計畫（Nursing care plan）開發屬於 RN 的專業核心判斷，不可委派。
LPNs are licensed to administer routine oral medications, reinforce established teaching plans, and perform sterile dressing changes. These tasks align with their scope of practice for executing prescribed nursing interventions. However, initial assessments and developing complex care plans require the advanced analytical skills reserved for RNs and cannot be delegated.
