庫欣氏症候群（Cushing's Syndrome）是因為體內皮質醇（Cortisol）過度分泌所致。皮質醇會導致脂肪代謝異常，造成向心性肥胖（Truncal obesity）與月亮臉（Moon face）；蛋白質分解增加導致肌肉萎縮與腹部紫色妊娠紋（Purple striae）；其升糖效應則會導致高血糖（Hyperglycemia）。色素沉著則是阿狄森氏症的特徵，非庫欣氏症表現。
Cushing's syndrome is caused by excessive secretion of cortisol within the body. Cortisol causes abnormal fat metabolism, leading to truncal obesity and moon face; increased protein breakdown leads to muscle wasting and purple striae over the abdomen; and its hyperglycemic effect leads to hyperglycemia. Hyperpigmentation, on the other hand, is a feature of Addison's disease, not Cushing's syndrome.
