安寧療護目標在於症狀控制與舒適。規律給藥預防疼痛復發；家庭參與符合安寧全人照護（Holistic care）精神；維持舒適環境減緩不適。心理需求同樣重要，不可忽略；限制訪客剝奪了病人與家屬告別與支持的機會。
The goal of hospice care is symptom control and comfort. Scheduled medication administration prevents recurrence of pain; family involvement reflects the holistic nature of hospice care; and maintaining a comfortable environment relieves distress. Psychological needs are equally important and cannot be ignored; restricting visitors deprives the client and family of the opportunity to say goodbye and provide support.
