Which client should be placed in a private room due to infection control guidelines?
- AA client with localized MRSA in a wound傷口有局部 MRSA 感染的病人
- BA client with pulmonary tuberculosis✓
- CA client with influenza
- DA client with a non-infectious pressure injury
Private-room placement for infection control is based primarily on the route of transmission. Pulmonary tuberculosis (TB) (B) is transmitted via airborne route; pathogens can be suspended in the air and travel over long distances, requiring placement in a private room with a negative-pressure ventilation system. MRSA (A) is typically transmitted by contact; for localized wound infections, strict contact precautions and cohorting with clients carrying the same organism are acceptable. Influenza (C) is mostly transmitted by droplets and patients can be cohorted. Non-infectious wounds (D) require no special isolation. The priority is that airborne diseases require strict isolation to prevent widespread transmission.
