當身體出現體液容積過多（Fluid volume excess / Hypervolemia）時，血液中的紅血球與血漿成分被稀釋，導致血液稀釋現象（Hemodilution），因此實驗室數據中會觀察到紅血球容積比（Hematocrit）下降。同時，尿比重通常會因水分過多而下降，血清滲透壓也會因稀釋而降低。

When the body has fluid volume excess (hypervolemia), the red blood cells and plasma components are diluted, leading to hemodilution; laboratory data therefore show a decreased hematocrit. At the same time, the urine specific gravity usually decreases because of the excess water, and the serum osmolality also decreases due to dilution.
