針對幼兒進行肌肉注射（IM injection）時，解剖位置的選擇至關重要。股外側肌（Vastus lateralis）位於大腿外側，該處肌肉厚實且無重大神經或血管經過，是幼兒肌肉注射的首選部位。背臀部（Dorsogluteal）因幼兒行走功能尚未發育完全，肌肉較薄，且有損傷坐骨神經的風險，故不建議使用。

When giving an intramuscular (IM) injection to an infant or toddler, the choice of anatomical site is critical. The vastus lateralis muscle, located on the outer aspect of the thigh, is thick and free of major nerves or blood vessels, making it the preferred site for IM injection in young children. The dorsogluteal site is not recommended because the muscle is underdeveloped in children who have not yet been walking long, and there is a risk of injuring the sciatic nerve.
