LPN/LVNs work under RN supervision and may administer routine medications and carry out established treatment plans. However, initial assessment, formulation of the nursing care plan, and patient teaching are legally the RN's professional responsibilities and must be performed by an RN to ensure correctness and professionalism of the plan of care.
