毛地黃（Digoxin）是一種強心劑，具有正性肌力作用（增加心肌收縮力）及負性頻率作用（降低心率）。由於它具有窄治療範圍（Narrow therapeutic index），極易產生毒性。在給藥前，護理師必須強制測量心尖脈（Apical pulse）滿一分鐘。若心跳小於 60 次/分（成人），即代表藥物可能導致過度心跳過慢，此時應暫停給藥並通知醫師，以防發生嚴重的房室傳導阻滯或心律不整。
Digoxin is a cardiotonic agent with a positive inotropic effect (increasing myocardial contractility) and a negative chronotropic effect (slowing the heart rate). Because it has a narrow therapeutic index, toxicity occurs easily. Before administration, the nurse must mandatorily auscultate the apical pulse for a full minute. If the rate is less than 60 beats/min (in adults), the medication may cause excessive bradycardia, in which case administration should be withheld and the provider notified to prevent severe AV block or arrhythmias.
