A nurse is assigned to four clients. Which client should be placed in a private room to maintain safety and infection control?
- AA client who is 2 days post-appendectomy with intact incision
- BA client with a controlled blood glucose level of 150 mg/dL血糖控制穩定在 150 mg/dL 的病人
- CA client admitted for observation after a minor concussion
- DA client with an uncontained draining wound infected with MRSA✓ 正解患有未妥善包覆且感染 MRSA 之引流傷口病人
The primary consideration when assigning a private room is whether the source of contamination can be controlled. MRSA is transmitted by contact; if wound drainage cannot be fully contained by the dressing (uncontained draining wound), it will significantly contaminate the surrounding environment, so this client must be isolated first. Clients B, A, and C have no infectious risk or have wounds in a closed state and can share a room with others. This represents the clinical decision-making at the heart of tiered isolation.
