甲狀腺功能亢進（Hyperthyroidism）導致體內甲狀腺素（T3, T4）過多，造成全身代謝速率（Metabolic Rate）異常升高。這會引發交感神經系統的過度興奮，臨床表現包括怕熱、多汗、體重減輕、心搏過速、焦慮及失眠等。護理重點在於提供涼爽環境、補充高熱量飲食以應對代謝消耗，並監測心臟功能。選項中的心搏過慢、體重增加及嗜睡，皆是甲狀腺功能低下（Hypothyroidism）的典型症狀。
