According to nursing practice standards, assessment, diagnosis, planning, and evaluation (ADPIE) are exclusive responsibilities of the RN. The LPN/LVN may, under the supervision of the RN, perform implementation-level tasks such as administering medications, changing dressings, and monitoring vital signs, but should not perform an initial assessment or develop a nursing care plan.
