Intramuscular injection: the ventrogluteal site is the preferred safe injection site in adults. Skin disinfection should be performed in a circular outward motion from the center. Current evidence indicates that aspiration before injection is no longer necessary for most IM injections, except for certain specific medications. The injection angle is 90 degrees rather than 45 degrees, and the site should be gently pressed rather than vigorously massaged after injection to avoid muscle irritation.
