The International Normalized Ratio (INR) is used to monitor the anticoagulant effect of vitamin K antagonists (VKAs). Warfarin and acenocoumarol are both VKAs, so their therapy requires regular INR monitoring to maintain therapeutic levels. In contrast, heparin is monitored via aPTT, while aspirin and clopidogrel are antiplatelet agents that do not require routine INR testing.
