Addison's disease is adrenocortical insufficiency in which the body cannot secrete enough cortisol. Under stress (such as infection, surgery, or emotional upset), the body's demand for steroids increases; failure to increase the dose can lead to a life-threatening Addisonian crisis. Therefore, option C is the most important safety teaching. Steroids must not be discontinued without authorization (D).
