After cardiac catheterization, the focus of nursing care is monitoring the integrity of the arterial puncture site and the peripheral circulation of the affected limb. Because the catheter may cause thrombosis, bleeding, or arterial dissection, neurovascular status must be systematically assessed. Priority assessments include distal pulses, condition of the puncture site, and indicators of perfusion (capillary refill, temperature).
