維持無菌技術（Sterile Technique）是防止醫源性感染的關鍵。無菌包裝的邊緣（通常為 1 英吋或 2.5 公分）被視為「受污染區」。護理師在操作過程中，只能觸碰無菌手套的內部或無菌區域的中心部位。一旦無菌手套觸碰了無菌鋪單（Drape）的外緣，無菌屏障即被破壞，必須停止操作並重新進行無菌準備。
Maintaining sterile technique is the key to preventing iatrogenic infection. The edge of a sterile package (typically 1 inch or 2.5 cm) is considered a contaminated zone. During the procedure, the nurse should only touch the inside of the sterile gloves or the central area of the sterile field. Once a sterile glove touches the outer edge of the sterile drape, the sterile barrier is broken and the nurse must stop the procedure and re-establish sterility.
