Ciprofloxacin is a fluoroquinolone antibiotic that readily forms crystals in the urine. Increasing fluid intake is the most important teaching point to prevent crystalluria and renal injury. Although photosensitivity (B) and tendon injury (A) are also adverse effects, adequate fluid intake directly reduces the most common renal adverse effect.
