Warfarin is an oral anticoagulant that works by inhibiting the synthesis of vitamin K-dependent clotting factors (II, VII, IX, X). To monitor its anticoagulant effect and prevent bleeding complications, the prothrombin time (PT) and its international normalized ratio (INR) are used clinically as monitoring indicators. Before administration, the INR value must be verified to be within the expected therapeutic range; if it is too high, there is a risk of bleeding and the dose should be withheld.
